       We are proud to announce the 11th international conference "Sustainable Development. Culture. Education" of JTEFS/BBCC (Journal of Teacher Education for Sustainability /Baltic and Black Sea Circle Consortium in Educational Research) and UNESCO Network on Reorienting Teacher Education to Address Sustainability.

       The first conference, held at Daugavpils University in 2003, was closely intertwined with the establishment of the European Network of the global UNESCO/UNITWIN project on reorienting teacher education to address sustainability. During its first decade, the honour and ensuing responsibility of organising the conference was shared among various BBCC members – Tallinn Pedagogical University (Estonia), Vechta University (Germany), University of Helsinki (Finland), University of Debrecen (Hungary), Anadolu University (Turkey), Daugavpils University (Latvia), UNESCO (France), Siauliai University (Lithuania) and University of Eastern Finland (Finland).

       The second decade of the conference will begin at Saint-Petersburg (Russia) in June 2013. Participants in the EESSS-Conference 2013 will be scientists, architects, teachers and researchers from more than 25 universities and design organizations including: SPSUACE (Russia), University of Eastern Finland (Finland), University de Moncton (Canada), School of Education Studies, Dublin City University (Ireland), Daugavpils University (Latvia), University of Johannesburg (South Africa), University of Latvia (Latvia), National Research University Higher School of Economics (Russia), Nishinippon Institute of Technology (Japan), Tallinn University (Estonia), Stockholm University (Sweden), Bindura University of Science Education (Zimbabwe), Riga Technical university (Latvia), Necmettin Erbakan University (Turkey), Sciences Sociales University (France), Rezekne Higher Education Institution (Latvia), Akdeniz University (Turkey), Iceland Academy of the Arts (Iceland)

       The conference is devoted to higher and professional education, the problems of focusing professional education in the context of sustainable development issues, the problems of design and optimization of educational environment in accordance with the needs of modern society.

       We invite university professors, young researchers, graduate students, teachers and methodologists from colleges and secondary schools, teachers of additional education institutions. Also we invite experts in the field of interior design and architecture of children educational institutions.

       Conference languages: English and Russian.

       Four days is too short time to discuss all the issues of our concern, isn't it? Therefore, we invite everyone interested in this discourse to submit articles, research papers, and reflections to our discussion club and to share your ideas and opinions on this platform.

       2013 Organizing Committee plans to invite most active participants and authors of most popular materials as key speakers for the conference. In addition to that, the topics that attracted most attention will be included into conference program.
